I LOVE LOVE LOVE this OPI Cajun Shrimp nail polish color. I picked it out at the salon when I went to get my piggies painted and knew I had chosen wisely! It's a perfect combo of red, with just a dash of coral, which means it goes well with EVERYTHING. You know how some corals are just TOO orangey? This one isn't. Much more of an actual red undertone. What more can I say? We all know OPI polishes rock, and this has to be my new fave, second only to my all time favorite color, "I'm Not Really a Waitress".

Maggie was extremely friendly & welcoming. The salon was very warm and inviting. They were able to a...ccommodate me immediately for a maincure and pedicure. After a long day of traveling it was nice to be pampered and just treated so nicely, considering I'm not going to be a regular customer, as I stated upon arrival. Thank you for making my long day relaxing. See More
Regardless of the reason for the beauty treatment, a manicure forces you to take some time for yourself. How you spend that time is up to you -- rehashing recent dramas with your friend in the adjacent chair or chatting with the manicurist. After all, you and the manicurist practically hold hands, and if you know each other well, you might catch up on life since the last manicure.
To Ellington’s credit, he was the only Heat player who dared to wear flip-flops without socks before an October game against the Wizards. In the offseason, Ellington and his wife will plan day-dates to the nail shop. Though he believes that feet are “a vital part of what we do” as NBA players, like several of his peers, Ellington said he doesn’t have time to get pedicures during the season. But that just might be an excuse from a man who needs his spouse as his salon interpreter.
Nail polish formulations may include ingredients that are toxic or affect other health problems. One controversial family of ingredient are phthalates,[10] which are implicated as endocrine disruptors and linked to problems in the endocrine system and increased risk of diabetes. Manufacturers have been pressured by consumer groups to reduce or to eliminate potentially-toxic ingredients,[25] and in September 2006, several companies agreed to phase out dibutyl phthalates.[26][27] There are no universal consumer safety standards for nail polish, however, and while formaldehyde has been eliminated from some nail polish brands, others still use it.[28]
Matte polish is like regular polish, but has a purposely dull finish rather than a shine. It can be purchased as a regular base coat in ranges of different colors. Matte nail polish can also be found in a top coat. Matte top coat is most useful for painting over any dry base color, giving it a different appearance. The matte top coat polish will dull the shine from a regular base coat polish. Matte polish has become very popular through the years, particularly since it can be used in nail art applications, where designs can be created on the nail using the contrast of both shiny and matte surfaces.
In between pedicures, cut your toenails straight across to trim them. This helps prevent ingrown toenails and keeps them strong. Filing your nails slightly so they're rounded in the center is fine. Before you polish your nails, gently clean underneath them with a manicure stick. If you have diabetes, your health care provider will do regular foot exams and teach you how to care for your feet.
An American manicure is similar to the French, but the shape and color of the nails differ. In this particular style, the tips are sometimes rounded, and use neutral or off white colors on the tips, instead of the drastic bright whites used in the French manicure. This can be worn in the classic style or made modern with some well placed glitter polish.
This type of nail polish is a clear, milky-colored, or opaque pink polish formula that is used specifically before applying nail polish to the nail.[11] The purpose of it is to strengthen nails, restore moisture to the nail, and/or help polish adhere to the nail so staining will not occur and the manicure lasts longer than without a base coat.[12] Some base coats are marketed as "ridge fillers" which can create a smooth surface, and reduce the appearance of the ridges that can appear on unbuffed nails. Some base coats called "peel off base coats" allow the user to peel off their nail polish without using a remover.
The image of NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal’s toes, as he received a pedicure in 2017, should have come with a NSFW warning. In 2014, former slam dunk champion Nate Robinson bared his soul, and his little piggies, as he posted a picture of himself on Instagram at a nail shop with the hashtag #teamUglyFeet. And through the decade of his own playing career, shame prevented Washington Wizards Coach Scott Brooks from removing his shoes in front of a stranger.
If you want a long-lasting manicure without the commitment (or potential damage) of acrylic nails, a gel manicure is a great option. All the steps of a basic manicure are taken, except a special polish that requires curing under a UV light is also applied. This lasts days longer than the polish used for a basic manicure, and is less prone to chipping.
