Before all else, a manicure lover dreams of her fashion statement.  Is yours the French manicure? Depending on who you ask, this pale pink polish with a white tip is either classic or old-fashioned. If you love the look, you'll be happy to know that it makes nails look longer. And pale shades are just right for serious moments, like a job interview.
"Not only that, but as with all nail enhancements, there's a risk of your nail plates becoming dehydrated and brittle. The removal process is crucial. In my experience, most issues with poor natural nail health are a result of nail enhancements, particularly dip nails, and stem from attempts at a DIY removal at home. It is always safest to go back to the salon and have a licensed professional remove any product for you."
To start, Anna, one of the nail technicians in the salon, removed all access nail polish from my nail using acetone before pulling out her electric buffing machine to smooth out any rugged areas on my nail and create a clean canvas for the powder to stick to. After cutting and shaping my nail—I opted for an oval shape instead of my usual squoval—and pushing back my cuticles, it was time for the fun to begin. Anna brushed on a primer, then swiped on a clear polish. While there were an array of powder colors to choose from (pink, nude, purple, etc.) my heart was set on the pale orange shade I saw upon arriving at the salon so I chose to go with that.
According to the US Department of Labor, manicure and pedicure specialists earned a median income of around $20,820 in 2015.[2] Most professionals earn an hourly wage or salary which can be augmented through customer tips. Independent nail techs depend on repeat business and consistent business to earn their livings. The most successful independent manicure technicians may earn salaries of over $50,000 per year.[3] Also, many nail technicians can earn up to $100 per hour from performing more technical nail treatments, such as pink and whites and sculpting. Although these treatments are not particularly popular for the feet, they are, nonetheless, an available option should anyone wish to have such a treatment. A standard pedicure treatment usually costs in the region of $40. Similar salaries can be earned by skilled pedicure techs working in exclusive and high end spas and salons.

Just for the record, I generally love OPI products. This product was just a bit lighter than I prefer and is definitely lighter than the picture expresses. I happened upon OPI Cajun Shrimp when out shopping and it resembles much more closely the picture of Live, Love Carnivale. I love Cajun Shrimp which is darker, richer with pink/blue undertones. Other reviewers mention the thickness of the product. It is thick, but not like "old" polish is. I find it goes on evenly and doesn't smear or drip which I prefer.

To Ellington’s credit, he was the only Heat player who dared to wear flip-flops without socks before an October game against the Wizards. In the offseason, Ellington and his wife will plan day-dates to the nail shop. Though he believes that feet are “a vital part of what we do” as NBA players, like several of his peers, Ellington said he doesn’t have time to get pedicures during the season. But that just might be an excuse from a man who needs his spouse as his salon interpreter.

As a self-professed beauty lover, I pride myself on staying on top of the latest fads in the makeup, hair, and nail world—after all, I’m usually the person my family and friends run to when they need advice on getting a certain hairstyle or testing the makeup waters with new products. But when ELLE.com’s Senior Beauty Editor, Kristina Rodulfo, mentioned dip powder nails to me, I had to admit defeat—I never heard of the trend and was eager to find out what it entailed.

Nail polish originated in China and dates back to 3000 BC.[1][2] Around 600 BC, during the Zhou dynasty, the royal house preferred the colors gold and silver.[1] However, red and black eventually replaced these metallic colors as royal favorites.[1] During the Ming dynasty, nail polish was often made from a mixture that included beeswax, egg whites, gelatin, vegetable dyes, and gum arabic.[1][2]
Thickening agents are added to maintain the sparkling particles in suspension while in the bottle. A typical thickener is stearalkonium hectorite. Thickening agents exhibit thixotropy, their solutions are viscous when still but free flowing when agitated. This duality is convenient for easily applying the freshly shaken mixture to give a film that quickly rigidifies.[10]
Apply a cuticle softening product to the base of each nail. Use a cuticle softening balm or oil serum. Alternatively, you can use honey as a natural cuticle softener. All 3 options work great to soften your cuticles, so you can easily remove the dead skin. Apply the product where the toenail meets the nail bed. Then, massage each toe to distribute the product.[10]

They love to show off their new hands by indulging in on-trend manicures with bright colors and unique details.” —Lisa Jachno

“If your skin barrier is impaired in any way, it becomes a portal for infection,” Katta said. “In a normal setting, your skin does really well to protect you from bacteria, from fungus, from viruses. But, any time you have a breakdown of that skin barrier, it makes it more easy for these infectious organisms to get through your skin barrier and cause an infection.”

This type of nail polish is a clear colored polish formula that is used specifically after applying nail polish to the nail. It forms a hardened barrier for the nail that can prevent chipping, scratching and peeling. Many top coats are marketed as "quick-drying." Top coats can help the underlying colored polish dry quickly as well. It gives the polish a more finished and desired look and may help to keep the polish on for longer.[12]
