According to the US Department of Labor, manicure and pedicure specialists earned a median income of around $20,820 in 2015.[2] Most professionals earn an hourly wage or salary which can be augmented through customer tips. Independent nail techs depend on repeat business and consistent business to earn their livings. The most successful independent manicure technicians may earn salaries of over $50,000 per year.[3] Also, many nail technicians can earn up to $100 per hour from performing more technical nail treatments, such as pink and whites and sculpting. Although these treatments are not particularly popular for the feet, they are, nonetheless, an available option should anyone wish to have such a treatment. A standard pedicure treatment usually costs in the region of $40. Similar salaries can be earned by skilled pedicure techs working in exclusive and high end spas and salons.

The image of NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal’s toes, as he received a pedicure in 2017, should have come with a NSFW warning. In 2014, former slam dunk champion Nate Robinson bared his soul, and his little piggies, as he posted a picture of himself on Instagram at a nail shop with the hashtag #teamUglyFeet. And through the decade of his own playing career, shame prevented Washington Wizards Coach Scott Brooks from removing his shoes in front of a stranger.

Ancient Babylonian men manicured and colored their nails using kohl, with different colors representing different classes. The upper echelons wore black while the lower classes wore green. They also created the world's first, and most lavish, manicure set — the tools were made from solid gold! Kelly Osbourne and her $250,000 manicure have nothing on these guys.
Nail polish (also known as nail varnish or nail enamel) is a lacquer that can be applied to the human fingernail or toenails to decorate and protect the nail plates. The formulation has been revised repeatedly to enhance its decorative effects, and to suppress cracking or flaking. Nail polish consists of a mix of an organic polymer and several other components, depending on the brand.[1]

After 11 years in the NBA, Augustin has become a veteran of tony nail salons. As often as he can, the starting point guard for the Orlando Magic will seek professional help on the road in the same places one might find women sipping bubbly taken from a mini-fridge while getting their cuticles contoured and polished. For Augustin, such a space is as sacred as the trainer’s table. He believes every NBA player needs a good pedicure.

Apply a cuticle softening product to the base of each nail. Use a cuticle softening balm or oil serum. Alternatively, you can use honey as a natural cuticle softener. All 3 options work great to soften your cuticles, so you can easily remove the dead skin. Apply the product where the toenail meets the nail bed. Then, massage each toe to distribute the product.[10]
“If your skin barrier is impaired in any way, it becomes a portal for infection,” Katta said. “In a normal setting, your skin does really well to protect you from bacteria, from fungus, from viruses. But, any time you have a breakdown of that skin barrier, it makes it more easy for these infectious organisms to get through your skin barrier and cause an infection.”
A manicure is not typically given when receiving a set of artificial nails because it interferes with the bonding process between the extensions and the acrylic. If you choose this option, nail tips allow for a more personalized look. Many salons have the basic French tips, but they also have more exciting ones with pre-made designs, in a variety of colors.
If you stop thinking about your manicure the second you step out of the salon door, you'll want to give it just a little more thought. Regularly treating your tips to nourishing nail or cuticle oil, as well as moisturizing with lotions will "prevent nails from drying out and splitting," according to Cosmopolitan magazine, because "the less moisture your nails and cuticles have, the more likely they are to break and tear."
Dip powder manicures are an alternative to traditional acrylic nails and gel polish. Dip powders have become popular due to ease of application. They are similar to traditional silk or fiberglass enhancements, with the fiber being replaced by acrylic powder. Both methods rely on layering cyanoacrylate over the natural nail and encasing either the fiber or acrylic powder. While a single layer of fiber is typical, multiple alternating layers of powder and cyanoacrylate may be used in dip nails.
