Trim your cuticles if you want to get rid of dead skin or hang nails. Use a cuticle trimmer to cut off the cuticles after you push them back. Simply use this tool as a miniature pair of scissors to snip off the dead cuticle skin around your toes. Start at the outer edge of your cuticles, and make small snips until you remove all of the dead skin.[12]
For those looking to make a statement with their nails, go chrome. The mirror manicure was named a trend by both Pinterest and Reader's Digest. To achieve the look, each nail is first cleaned and shaped. Then a coat of black polish is applied, cured, and buffed. Next, top coat is applied and cured, before putting on a mirror powder. It is sealed with a top coat, cured, and buffed. It finishes with a gel top coat to create a shiny mirrored effect.

Colored nail polish did not make an appearance until the 1920s. Early nail polish formulas were created using basic ingredients such as lavender oil, Carmine, oxide tin, and bergamot oil.[6] It was more common to polish nails with tinted powders and creams, and finishing off by buffing the nail until left shiny. One type of polishing product sold around this time was Graf's Hyglo nail polish paste.[6]

"Excess exposure to chemicals such as those found in household cleaners can lead to weakened enhancements or brittle natural nails. I always recommend wearing protective gloves to protect both the enhancement, your natural nails and the surrounding skin from weakening, which could lead to painful breakage. Restoring hydration after the treatment and during the wear time will help a lot of the problems that can arise from the dip powder enhancements. Try to apply cuticle oils and high quality moisturizers multiple times a day."

After using it a few times, I thought I should note that with two coats, it still looks pretty streaky and the polish is a bit too thick to get a really even coat each time. The picture shows what it looks like after three coats, what I'm unable to show is that it's still not completely hardened after a coat of Seche Vite fast-drying top coat and 45 minutes. I'm going to add a few drops of OPI polish thinner and try again... I'll update if I can get it to go on better after thinning slightly.

“Lots of dirt and other gross things accumulate under your nails during the course of the day but it just takes a quick scrub with a nail brush to get it out. So if you come in and say ‘Oh my nails are so gross’ I will clean them out for you but I hope you’d tip a little bit more after that.” —Amy Harold Get ready for your next manicure with these simple ways to make your nails stronger.
Dip powder manicures are an alternative to traditional acrylic nails and gel polish. Dip powders have become popular due to ease of application. They are similar to traditional silk or fiberglass enhancements, with the fiber being replaced by acrylic powder. Both methods rely on layering cyanoacrylate over the natural nail and encasing either the fiber or acrylic powder. While a single layer of fiber is typical, multiple alternating layers of powder and cyanoacrylate may be used in dip nails.
